You can only get a grant from The Jubilee Fund if you follow certain rules.

Please make sure that you have read and understood them before applying for a fund.

1. You need to have a DofE ID (or DEAMS) number to apply - it is in your Record Book.

2. Your application will only be looked at if:
  • You can be supported by an adult DofE Leader who is known to the DofE,
  • If you can demonstrate that you are in need of support by explaining to us why you need the money.
  • Your activity is something that the DofE thinks is suitable,
  • You can give us simple records e.g. written note or diary.

3. You can apply as many times as you like.

4. We will use some of the information you give us to help other young people but we will not link this to your name or any other details.

5. The information you give us about why you need the money or how you use it will not be used by anyone else other than the DofE, unless you give us permission.

6. You must write a report for your DofE Regional Office about what you have done with the money and how it has helped you within a month of finishing the activity. You can get your DofE Leader to help you write this. If you don’t do this we might have to ask for the money back.

7. The money must be spent on what you say in your application. Please keep all receipts

8. You should not plan or sign up to an activity expecting to get the money. It will not be The Duke of Edinburgh's Award's fault if you do not get the money from us but owe other people. It is best to wait until you know you will get the money before you plan an activity around this.

9. You can only apply for this money for yourself as an individual, not as part of a group (unless you are a DofE Leader applying for funds for a new DofE group starting up in 2008/2009).

10. You can decide who gets the cheque for the amount of money given, you, your DofE Leader or another adult like a parent or guardian. This amount might be less than what you applied for.

11. The money must be used within a year of application and if not used you will be asked to give it back, unless you are told otherwise.

12. Each Region has been given £10,000 from the Jubilee Fund to support disadvantaged young people across the UK. The main goals are to:

    • Relieve financial barriers to participation in and completion of their DofE programme.
    • Demonstrate to young people that their needs and hopes are important;
    • Improve opportunities and access to DofE programmes.

13. All funds will be given out by Regional DofE Directors because they know your area and can visit any projects.

14. Regional DofE Directors will decide who gets amounts of up to £500.

15. The Chief Executive will make the final decision about who gets amounts over £500.

16. The Regional DofE Director's (and for grants over £500, the Chief Executive's) decision is final.
