Yorkshire Dales Open Conservation Residential: The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, in partnership with the DofE’s Dales & Pennines Expedition Network, is offering the John Muir Award (Discovery level) as part of its Conservation Residential, 21- 27th August 2010, at Hornby Laithe, near Settle. Limited to 15 participants, the event will involve an initial exploration of the area, followed by four days of practical conservation work with several agencies in the Three Peaks and Malhamdale areas of the Yorkshire Dales. The cost is £140, to cover food and accommodation at Hornby Laithe Bunkhouse, as well as travel during the week. The Waterway Recovery Group: Get outdoors and dirty this summer with WRG. Every year we run around 25 week-long residential volunteering opportunities throughout England and Wales. This year we are looking for students/ graduates who would like to enhance their CV through volunteering or who are looking to complete their DofE Residential to go on one of our week placements called canal camps. Typical activities include restoring a lock chamber, building a slipway, vegetation clearance or helping run a waterways festival. DISCOVERING SNOWDONIA, come and discover Snowdonia National Park at Rhyd y Creuau, this course will get you climbing, gorge walking, abseiling, learning about the mountains, carrying out some conservation work and an overnight expedition in the mountains of North Wales.
