London Arts Project

Think the Duke of Edinburgh's Award isn't for you?  Think again!

The Arts Project was initiated in 2003 to give young people in London an entirely new way to get involved with the DofE.  Not into camping?  What about music? Interested in dance? Or maybe painting, drawing, graphic design, animation, photogrpahy, creative writing, lighting design, stage management...

The Arts Project allows you to use your talents to fulfil the criteria of the Award. Take a dance class for your Physical section. Practice painting for your Skills. Work with an arts programme in a school for your Volunteering. Take a show on tour for your Expedition. The Arts Project can allow you to fulfil all of the DofE's requirements while developing your interest and talent in the arts.

If you'd like to get involved in the arts for your Duke of Edinburgh's Award, the Arts Project can help you in the following ways...

  • Finding organisations, classes, tutors or groups in your desired art form to help you practice, develop or share your skills.
  • Providing performance opportunities either in one of our Bi-Annual performance and exhibition events (find out more about our most recent event at the Barbican!) or in events with one our many partner organisations including the Festival of Youth Arts.
  • Increasing qualifications with our pilot programme of linked accrediation with the Arts Council's Arts Award.

Or maybe you are an arts Practitioner or Organisation? The Arts Project is always looking to increase access to opportunities in the arts for young people throughout London by networking with arts practitioners and organisation and we can offer the following services:

  • Accredit the work already being done with young people over the appropriate time frames both with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and the Arts Council's Arts Award.
  • Increase access by advertising opportunities to our London-wide network of young people.
  • Offer high profile professional showcase opportunities.
