London Gold Award Forum

Welcome to The Duke of Edinburgh's Award London Gold Award Forum
...or GAF for short.

In case you aren't familiar with it, GAF is a Forum made up of participants from all across London who are working towards their Gold Award.  They range from ages 16 to 24 and come from many diverse backgrounds.
The Forum represents the voice of young people doing DofE programmes in London and they assist in the planning and development of the DofE in the London Region.
The government is keen for young people to have a say in the design and decision-making stages of programmes and provisions that affect them and GAF ensures they have that say!

The Gold Award Forum started back in September 2005 and its success has seen it continue to grow year on year. The Forum members serve for a year and in that year they get involved in quite a lot...
From fundraising events to sending comments to the Government on Youth Policy, work experience at the London Region Office, contributing to the DofE magazine, visits to our Head Office and even planning for the 2012 London Olympics…and that’s only part of it!

Being part of the Forum can count towards your Gold Skills or Volunteering sections and you get to plan an international Residential experience to establish links and programmes for future groups.

This year’s Forum has been working hard towards their international residential to The Gambia in July.

Interested?

Well don’t just take our word for it, here’s Nathan – a former Forum member:
“I think it is great that the forum provides us with a platform, from which our voice can be heard. It is important that young people’s views are taken into consideration, after all, it is us who do the DofE!”
