Introduction to the DofE (ITTDofE)

DofE qualification  

The ITTDofE course enables new and potential leaders to begin delivering the DofE to their group. Some of the learning objectives for the course are below.

  • Policy and systems for safeguarding young people
  • Understand the DofE levels, sections and timescales
  • Understand key steps to set up a DofE group
  • Understand resources and training available
  • Develop communication and mentoring skills

Expedition Assessors Accreditation Scheme (EAAS)

DofE qualification

This course allows Leaders to become Assessors for the Expedition section.  Some of the learning objectives for the course are below.

  • Understand conditions and requirements for Expedition section
  • Understand the seven steps to assessment
  • Understand the Expedition Assessor's role

Level 2 Award in Basic Expedition Leadership (BEL)

Nationally recognised qualification

This course was developed by Sports Leaders UK and is for all who have responsibility of looking after others (usually young) in the outdoors or wish to train others to carry out day journeys and back packing expeditions.  It is extremely important for the DofE for the Expedition section.  Some of the learning objectives for the course are below.

  • Train people in the basic skills involved in journeying on foot in the British Isles in summer conditions
  • Lead parties or groups in lowland country
  • Have responsibility for the care of others, particularly the young, out-of-doors including day journey parties
  • Organise base and standing camps
  • Appointed Person First Aid Qualification

Appointed person, First Aid Course
This is a one day course covering primary survey, recovery position CPR, etc.
