Women in Business Group

The Women in Business Group is a dynamic group of influential businesswomen who recognise the significant impact of the DofE and use their expertise and knowledge to further the work of the Charity. Women in Business members are entrepreneurs, board directors or partners within businesses of all sizes. They are commited and creative in helping the DofE achieve its mission and recognise the impact it has on young people’s lives. Many are advocates for the Charity within their own business, in the wider business community and society.

With only 110 paid staff supporting 275,000 young people currently doing a DoE programme, volunteers are vital to the Charity’s success. The Women in Business Group has played a key role in advising the Charity on marketing and PR and creating new opportunities. By giving their time and expertise both as a group and individually, the committee help to raise the profile of the Charity and extend the reach of the DofE.

Members work closely with the DofE on an individual basis by supporting specific projects relating to their area of business. Each member also acts as an ambassador for the DofE giving inspirational speeches about our work with young people to new audiences.

The Women in Business Group is a powerful tool for fundraising and networking. Over the last 6 years the members have hosted fundraising events, introduced new supporters and supported DofE events generating hundreds of thousands of pounds between them.

We are grateful to our chair HRH The Countess of Wessex and all our group members for their generous support.

"Two years ago I didn’t know where I was going.  I’d finished school at 16 and had just had my baby girl.  Since then I’ve achieved both my Bronze and Silver Award and I’m working towards my Gold and my Basic Expedition Leaders Award.  Doing my DofE has given me the confidence to take the first steps toward a career in youth work.”
