Mountain Biking in Delamere Forest with Tracs UK: Delamere Forest, Cheshire, offers a fantastic opportunity for young people based within the North West of England to enjoy the forest whilst developing new mountain biking skills and confidence. Tracs (UK) can help open up the forest by providing biking hire, training and lead trail rides and bike maintenance courses. Learn Capoeira, the 400 year old Brazilian Martial Arts Dance and Acrobatics. Which could count towards the Physical section of your Bronze Silver or Gold Award depending on the length of time you train with us. The Association de Capoeira Engenho da Rainha or ACM is one of the most authentic Capoeira Groups in the world.  You will be taught how to perform acrobatics , kicks and play instruments. Learn the ancient art of fencing: Achieve the Physical section of the Bronze Award.  Salle Paul Fencing Club is one of the oldest, and most successful, fencing clubs in the UK. Based at William Ellis School in Kentish Town, London, Salle Paul has developed a course tailored over a three month period to help you achieve the requirements of the Physical Section of your Bronze DofE programme.  The course will include:Learning the basics (movement, footwork, weapon grip, en garde position), The simple attack (including learning to attack with a feint), Defence (parry), Counter attack, Fencing against others, competition, Refereeing – an introduction to the rules of fencing, History of fencing, including etiquette, courtesy, honour and control, Equipment – use, care and maintenance of foils, Course booklet including terminology and supporting notes. All Salle Paul coaches are qualified, have been accredited by England Fencing, have a current First Aid certificate, have attended a Child Protection Course and hold a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Enhanced Disclosure Certificate issued by British Fencing. MOUNTAIN BIKING IN KIELDER FOREST WITH PURPLE MOUNTAIN: Purple Mountain is located in Kielder Forest which lies around the shores of Kielder Water in Northumberland. The largest manmade forest in Europe offers a true wilderness experience and a vast array of spectacular mountain bike trails. There is a wide range of trails, suitable for all mountain bikers, and some of the best single track in the UK. SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS: Training opportunities at all levels of the award in all expedition skills, open canoeing, kayaking and sailing. Training Training follows the requirements of the Award and is pitched at the level of each group; Bronze = full training, Silver = refresher and skills developments, Gold = refresher and further developments. All training courses operate with a ratio of 8 participants to 1 instructor. Assessment courses operate with a ratio of 6 participants to 1 instructor. Training or Assessment, courses cost £240 per instructor for a full day and £160 for a ½ day. Discounts are available for larger groups and for block / repeat bookings. for the Expeditions, Skills and Physical Sections: Navigation - Training includes map and compass, timing, pacing, special skills and much more. Assessments are available and National Navigation Award Scheme Bronze and Silver certificates can be awarded. Campcraft - Training includes site selection, use of tents and stoves, nutrition, environmental considerations and much more. Canoeing - Training includes paddling strokes, lifting and handling, journeying and much more. Assessments are available and BCU 1, 2 and 3 star certificates can be awarded. Mountain Biking - Training includes the safe cycle, on and off-road skills, cycling with panniers, bike maintenance and much more. First Aid - Rescue Emergency Care (REC) first aid courses include; vital signs, emergency action, levels of consciousness, bleeding, cpr, and much more.  The Rescue Emergency Care (REC) scheme accredits our First Aid courses and operate with a ratio of 8-12 participants to 1 trainer and costs £60 each per day. The Basic (one day) First Aid course is valid for 3 years (this course also allows the participant to be nominated as the Appointed Person within the workplace). The Emergency (two day) First Aid course is valid for 3 years (this course is recognised as sufficient by National Governing Bodies such as RYA, MLT, BCU). All our courses can be run either as intensive blocks, or as progressive days out. The number of training sessions required will depend on the abilities of the groups.
