Residential Opportunities at Lea Green Development Centre, Derbyshire:  Our summer activity programme includes the following courses which could be undertaken for the DofE Gold residential section: Climbing Week £310.60: Want to experience the thrill of reaching the top of a rock face on a Derbyshire crag? Whether you’re a complete beginner or keen to improve your skills, this is the course for you. This week will combine mental and physical challenges in dramatic settings around the county. 13 – 17 years old : 23rd – 27th July. Sports Week £247.40: Have you been inspired by the Olympics? How about a week of sporting activity? Experienced coaches will help you perfect those skills you’ve been working on at school in basketball, table tennis, badminton or volleyball. Perhaps have a go at totally new activities like archery, golf, lacrosse or BMX bikes. 14 - 17 years old : 30th July – 3rd August. Disability Sports Week £247.40: Have you been inspired by the Olympics and Paralympics? Experienced coaches will help you perfect those skills you’ve been working on at school in basketball, table tennis, badminton or volleyball. Perhaps have a go at totally new activities like archery, golf, boccia or tchoukball. Carers welcome, brand new accomodation available for those with additional needs 11 – 17 years old : 6th – 10th August. Multi Activity Week £310.60: In the morning you could be crawling through a stream, the afternoon jumping for the trapeze on the high ropes and in the evening driving the buggies around the astro-turf before toasting marshmallows on a camp-fire. Outdoor activities:
A fun, exciting multi activity course run in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park based at Blue Peris Mountain Centre, Dinorwic an OEC centre owned by Bedford Borough Council. We have been running outdoor education and adventure activity courses for over 40 years and want all our visitors to fully engage with the natural environment. We offer a wide range of activities all designed to give a variety of exciting and stimulating experiences. From water based fun to mountain and crag adventures, there is something to suit all tastes. All the activities we offer encourage the formation of self confidence, trust and strong bonds within a team environment. The Gold DofE Residential experience could include activities such as gorge scrambling, kayaking, mining, rock climbing, coasteering, sea level traversing, canoeing, mountain walking and you will be actively involved in all aspects of the residential experience such as serving meals and kit care. All participants will have fun and meet new friends. Cost is £295 full residential and includes all kit hire, meals, accommodation, activity instruction and transport whilst at the Centre. Queen’s Guide /DofE Residential experience:
Do you need an opportunity to complete your Residential for either the Queen’s Guide or Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award? Or are you working on both? A residential experience which will cover the necessary requirements to complete the relevant clauses for either or both Awards is being held during Easter Bank Holiday weekend. Yorkshire Dales Open Gold Residential: A chance for you to experience the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire whilst completing you Gold DofE Residential. We are back at Stainforth again for the 2012 event, which has been arranged for the week 18th - 24th August 2012, at a cost of £170 for the week. Based in Hornby Laithe, near Settle, this Open Gold is becoming a popular location for Gold participants to undertke their Residential. The venue offers excellent facilities, and is easily accessible by public transport. The week is staffed by volunteers from the National Park, Yorkshire Dales/Pennines Expedition Network and supported by the Yorkshire & Humber DofE Region. Outdoor activities: Complete your Gold DofE Residential Section in the Dark Peak – Crowden Outdoor Education Centre and YHA, located in the Longdendale Valley, is offering a DofE Residential 30 July – 3 August 2012. Participants will be able to choose as a group (maximum 14 participants) which activities they would like to participate in and develop their own unique programme. Activities include steam scrambling, canoeing, caving, weasling and climbing. LEVEL 2 AWARD IN ASSISTING IN BASIC EXPEDITION LEADERSHIP/ GOLD RESIDENTIAL OPPORTUNITY: Chase Training Solutions is organising two Sports Leaders UK 'BEAL' courses delivered over five days, 28 August - 1 September 2012, that can also be used as a Gold Residential section opportunity. Residential activity week at CMC Pensarn Harbour and Bryn-y-Moel: Come and join us from the 18th-24th August for a week of adventure, challenges, fun and new experiences. A Gold Residential Opportunity offering adventurous activities
combined with conservation: Carlton Lodge Outdoor Centre near Thirsk, North Yorkshire in partnership with the Yorks and Humber Region are pleased to offer an opportunity to complete your DofE Gold Residential at the Centre which comprises a 12 acre site including a 4 acre conservation area within which is a large lake. We have a full range of wet and dry activities. Course dates 13 - 17 August 2012. The week will consist of adventure activities such as kayaking, improvised rafting, high ropes zip wire, climbing wall, problem solving and archery combined with conservation work in the area around our lake.
