“The DofE is essential for Britain” Lord Digby Jones speaking at Amey

Mel Ewell, Chief Executive – Amey and Lord Digby Jones with Amey Apprentices
Speaking at Amey in Oxford yesterday, Lord Digby Jones discussed the benefits of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

"The DofE is essential for Britain at a time when it faces the challenges of an economy that will only deliver success if we grow the profits of business and its ability to employ people.

Growing an economy comes down to people being skilled and the ability to maximise talent, and if there is one thing the DofE does for young people it allows them to feel they can achieve.

Young people doing the DofE are surrounded by  positivity; they feel good about themselves, they turn up to work on time and they are ahead of the game in the jobs market.  Employers want to employ DofE Award holders because they are good for business and so the nation becomes more successful."
