Six young mums from the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea have raised £10,000 towards their Gold Duke of Edinburgh's expedition.
The group have already completed their Bronze and Silver Awards together with their children, and are hoping to raise £15,000 to fund a cycle ride around Holland in April.
Harmony Vasadidi, Hayley Anglim, Laura Pham, Emily Mails, Daniela Oliveira-Miguel and Rennice Henry, plan to take their children in trailers, becoming the first young mothers in Europe to take their children on a Gold expedition, and as youth workers in the Royal Borough, have the full support of Kensington and Chelsea Council in doing so.
Their fundraising efforts so far include a fun day at Wornington Green Adventure Centre, a tabletop sale at Lancaster Youth Club, and walking around Portobello Market in their pyjamas.
Councillor Baroness Ritchie, head of family and children's services, said: "I wish these young mothers the very best in their efforts to raise funds for their expedition.
"The DofE has inspired generations of young people to learn new skills and help in their community. I hope their efforts can motivate other young people to improve their lives by doing something so rewarding."
Over the October half-term, the mums practised for the Holland trip by cycling with their children in the South Downs, covering 100km in five days, camping along the way.
And for the past year, they have been volunteering in the community and getting in shape ready for the trip.
They are planning to learn from groups in Holland and start their own community group to help young parents and provide education about teen pregnancy.
