Duke of Edinburgh

DofE Challenge 2012

Main Navigation

After the phenomenal success of last year’s DofE Yorkshire Dales Challenge, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is inviting teams to take to the Peak District for 2012 and raise money for charity.

Teams of 6 people will take part in a DofE style two day trek in some of the UK’s most beautiful countryside, camping in wild country and testing their skills with a range of sporting challenges.

Participants will camp overnight and hike some 30 miles over two days tackling logistical, orienteering and Olympic-themed challenges including kayaking, archery, athletics, mountain biking and fencing.

Participants will arrive early at the start/finish site at Underbank Outdoor Centre on the edge of the Peak District National Park (less than 15 miles north of Sheffield) on Saturday morning for registration and a briefing before setting off on their hike over the Peak District hills with exciting mental and Olympic-themed team challenges en route. An early start on Sunday morning with a Race-walk style hike and a kayak race across a reservoir to get to the finish line. An exciting end to the challenge!

  • Up to 30 miles trekking through wild country and breathtaking scenery.
  • Olympic themed challenges could include archery, kayaking, athletics, mountain biking and fencing.
