Kushi Adventures are holding a Canoe residential from the 8-13th April 2012. The residential will be activity based, looking at expedition skills such as coking on wood, tarps and learning traditional skills of sailing, poling and lining. It is based in the Scottish Highlands and accommodations will be in tents. This opportunity may count as a residential, please speak to your leader before booking a place.

Royal Zoological Science Summer Schools 2012 If you are between 15-17 years old join us for a week of work behind the scenes at either of RZSS’s parks; Edinburgh Zoo or The Highland Wildlife Park.

There is an application process and although places are FREE, they are limited. Application Forms can be downloaded from our websites. You will also need to get a recommendation from one of your school teachers/College lecturers. Unfortunately, accommodation is not provided as part of the course.
Please note: Students will NOT be working directly with the animals.

- Join the Green Team's Easter Gold Residential opportunity to Kintail in the Highlands of Scotland. This area is renowned for its stunning mountains and lochs. You will have the opportunity to work with local rangers planting trees and carrying out improvements to the woodlands and footpaths of this Highland estate. The Green Team are running a summer Gold Residential opportunity to the Scottish Highland estate of Ben Lawers from 2nd to 7th July 2012. You will have the chance to take part in some exciting conservation work on this estate managed by the National Trust for Scotland. Tasks will include upland tree planting, fence removal and habitat restoration. There will be plenty of opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside, take in the stunning views and discover what makes this area so special for wildlife. You will also achieve a John Muir Discovery Award for taking part in this project. The accommodation is a comfortable outdoor centre at the edge of the estate. - Project Ideas for Expeditions: The Ancient Tree Hunt is a project run by the Woodland Trust which aims to record the fattest and oldest trees across the UK. Expeditions are a great opportunity to take part in this exciting project and add to an interactive database/mapping system of ancient trees across the UK. - Anthony Nolan Trust Volunteers are urgently needed to assist the life saving leukaemia charity The Anthony Nolan Trust at their fundraising projects within Glasgow District, Aberdeen, Alloa and Selkirk Sheriff Courts. The volunteers man the Tea Bars located there and serve snacks, drinks and a cheery smile to the people who attend court, staff, police and lawyers. The project is much valued by all concerned and raises the vital funds to help the charity save lives. - Scottish Epilepsy Initiative is looking for individuals to become “Local Heroes”. DoE participants could achieve the requirements of the Volunteering section of their DofE programme by becoming involved with us. We need people to organise small scale events, for example school talent shows, supermarket bag packing, valentine post boxes etc. We will support participants with any fundraising media they require, support of our professional fundraisers, help with legalities etc. and also recognise their achievements appropriately. One of our key aims is to raise funds for a telemedicine scheme in Scotland. This affords people with epilepsy equity of healthcare by providing video conferencing links between people with epilepsy in remote areas and their epilepsy specialist. We feel that this provides a unique fundraising opportunity for people all over Scotland, particularly in the remote and rural areas.
