Scottish Epilepsy Initiative is looking for individuals to become “Local Heroes”. DoE participants could achieve the requirements of the Volunteering section of their DofE programme by becoming involved with us. We need people to organise small scale events, for example school talent shows, supermarket bag packing, valentine post boxes etc. We will support participants with any fundraising media they require, support of our professional fundraisers, help with legalities etc. and also recognise their achievements appropriately. One of our key aims is to raise funds for a telemedicine scheme in Scotland. This affords people with epilepsy equity of healthcare by providing video conferencing links between people with epilepsy in remote areas and their epilepsy specialist. We feel that this provides a unique fundraising opportunity for people all over Scotland, particularly in the remote and rural areas.
