Claire Owen founded Stopgap in 1993 and it is now one of the most respected marketing recruitment businesses in the UK.  Although in the early days the focus was on providing freelance marketers, nowadays it works with a huge number of organisations, large and small, sourcing marketers on both a freelance and permanent basis. The Stopgap Group now consists of Stopgap (with offices in Richmond and Leamington Spa), Fitzroy for senior marketing jobs, and Stopgap Australia down in Sydney!

Through Stopgap and as an individual Claire has been a supporter of our Charity for more than 10 years and is a long-standing member of our Women in Business Committee.  Very definitely a hands-on supporter, Claire has led teams from Stopgap in sailing regattas, and in challenge events.

“I support the DofE because I’ve seen first hand how difficult it can be for young people to get started on a career, and completing the Award, without question, gives them skills that are relevant and desirable to employers, giving them a helping hand in an ever increasingly competitive job market.

"We’ve supported teams of staff from Stopgap in participating in a number of their challenge events – great for team building and reinforcing the camaraderie that is so important in business.  On a personal level, I’ve met some very interesting people, been entertained in some very special venues and what’s really wonderful, is that I’ve always felt a strong sense of appreciation from the team at DofE – my support has never been taken for granted.”
