WELCOME TO DofE NEWS – THE MONTHLY e-NEWSLETTER FROM THE DofE.

The hills are alive with the sound of... DofE participants out on their adventures. Hopefully all armed with cameras to record their memories ready for upload into eDofE and to help them create a fantastic Achievement Pack.

With that in mind, we start this month's newsletter with some detailed information about this great new pack for participants...

INTRODUCING THE ACHIEVEMENT PACK - NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH eDofE!

Participants can now get a lasting memory of their DofE. When they work through their DofE programme, they will be uploading evidence to eDofE. When they achieve their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award they will have the chance to get an amazing Achievement Pack.

It’s all about quality and quantity
Their Achievement Pack will be a lasting memory, so it’s up to them to ensure that it shows off their DofE adventures!

Leaders are asked to keep encouraging participants to upload evidence as their progress through their DofE programme, so that their Achievement Pack will be a fantastic memory for them. They need to complete their aims and objectives correctly on eDofE and upload lots and lots of great quality evidence:

  • High resolution photographs of activities for every section
  • Scans of certificates, letters, emails, event programmes etc
  • Scans of the Assessors’ comments in their Keeping Track booklet
  • ...and anything else that can be scanned or photographed and uploaded!

How to order
When an Award has been approved, the participant goes into their eDofE account and will see a ‘get it!’ button, with their level of Award on it. When clicked, they can start the process to create their Achievement Pack, using a slick new system created and run for us by DG3. Around 24 hours later, the system will be ready for them to start creating their Pack by clicking on the ‘create it’ button that’ll appear in their eDofE account.

Costs
When they’ve created their Pack, they can download a free PDF copy. They will also be able to buy a beautifully bound hardback version to keep and treasure. A standard screw-bound version costs just £18, or there’s a leatherette perfect-bound version (with bronze, silver or gold foil blocking) for just £25.

What better way for a young person to record their DofE experiences and show to their family, friends and future employers?

The DofE held a GAP in Scotland in the presence of the HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at The Palace of Holyroodhouse and a GAP in London in the presence of HRH The Earl of Wessex at St James's Palace. Read Andi Peters tweet before he attended the London GAP here. He then tweeted after the ceremony, read his tweet here. Attending the Scottish ceremony and blogging about it were design gurus Colin and Justin.
