Why the DofE is important to us

“Having completed the DofE Gold Business Award as part of my Apprenticeship at Amey in 2013, I am able to transfer the skills I developed during my Gold Award to ensure our DofE Gold Business Award Programme is a fun, challenging and inspiring experience for our apprentices. I take great pride in the personal development opportunities the DofE provides and fully promote the benefits it brings to Amey.”
Anton George – HR Adviser and Gold DofE Award holder
“I have been with Amey for five years now after starting my apprenticeship in 2012. As part of my apprenticeship I completed the Duke of Edinburgh’s Business Gold Award. The DofE gave me the opportunity to travel and to meet other apprentices within Amey at the DofE residential trips held in Rugby and Birmingham, and at the expeditions in Dartmoor. I was encouraged to take up cycling as part of the Physical section and undertook voluntary roles packing Christmas shoeboxes for a children’s charity as part of the Volunteering section. Since completing my DofE Gold Award, I have been fortunate enough to attend DofE events and represent Amey as Diamond Ambassador. I have continued volunteering packing Christmas shoeboxes and used my Amey Community Days to support other organisations in the local community.”
