Why the DofE is important to us
“Over the last twenty years we have supported The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and helped over three million young people unlock their potential and build a brighter. We believe that is a great platform for the next generation of young people to help them to develop and prepare them for the challenges of everyday life.”
We know that young people with a DofE Award will benefit massively from all of the activities they will be involved in and it will help to strengthen their skills and ability to apply themselves to different situations.
The confidence and independence that they will gain, along with being able to achieve goals, whether within a team or on their own, and enjoy a challenge will help to strengthen the next generation of young employees.
These attributes fit well into our values and will help to strengthen our business and help us on our journey of becoming a world class business. When young people apply for a role with us we look to see if they have achieved a DofE Award.
We also invest in our young people once they are with us and our apprentices across Service Manager, Factory and Retail do their Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as an integral part of their apprenticeship.
We have chosen to include their DofE as part of their training as we know it will develop self confidence, self reliance and leadership skills, all traits which will mean our Managers of the future will continue to deliver great customer service.”
