A day in the life
This page gives you an insight into some of the roles at Lloyds Banking Group
Meet Imogen, who has just completed her second placement as a Bancassurance Manager for Scottish Widows.
“I spend most of my time looking at our systems and processes and considering how they affect the customer. For example, if a customer’s Financial Consultant resigns, will they know who to go to with their queries?
Meet Jessica, a Local Service Improvement Manager for Lloyds Community Bank. Jessica spent a six month placement of her graduate training programme working in the Local Director’s office that supervises 13 Lloyds Bank branches in West London. She was tasked with improving customer service at four branches that needed extra support.
“The nature of this role meant that I would be out of the office and on branch visits typically 2-3 days a week. I really enjoyed working in this team! It provided me with an in-depth understanding into what excellent customer service looks like on the front-line. Furthermore, it provided me with a great degree of responsibility and autonomy to develop and trial new initiatives that could improve customer experience!”
Hannah joined the Bank in August 2011 and works in General Insurance in the Property Claims team.
“Lloyds Banking Group is a large company, so there’s real scope for exploring different career avenues. All the support and training is in place to help ensure you achieve your professional and personal development goals.
“For me, a typical day can range from taking calls from customers to dealing with correspondence, and even participating in different projects. Acting as the “face” of Lloyds Banking Group, I support customers during the often difficult circumstances of a home insurance claim. Every call brings a fresh challenge. And there’s real reward in knowing that I’ve helped my customers during a tricky time.
“The main advice I’d give to you is to be passionate about your career and your aspirations. If you can show that you’re hardworking and enthusiastic, you’ll quickly be spotted and rewarded. If you want to develop within a business, I believe, there are few other major companies that can match our position in terms of expertise and opportunities.”

“Lloyds Banking Group is very supportive of your individual development. For example, when I showed an interest in moving up to the Flow Leader role I was given a chance to get experience as a Deputy Flow Lead to help me prepare. And when I moved teams I was able to keep the role. I’ve also had lots of on-the-job training and support from my manager.”
Deputy Flow Leader – Retail and Wealth Operations

“At Lloyds the graduate programme is really seen as an important investment by all managers and senior leaders within the organisation. Line managers are keen to support, and challenge, the graduates who work with them.”
