Emma May Anderson

The DofE award has really helped me gain more confidence and has encouraged me to try new activities. For my volunteering section I volunteered with Tesco in the Community, supporting a range of charities including Cancer Research and Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice as well as schools and members of my local community. At the start of my Bronze Award I was very shy when volunteering at raffles, Food Bank drives and many more events in store but by the end of my Silver Award I was able to become more confident and even organise and lead my own hand-made craft stalls. From these stalls I was able to not only raise money for charity but also make people in the community smile. Without the DofE Award, I would never have had the opportunity to do this and the skills I learned will continue to help me for years to come. DofE has helped me build on so many skills and I hope to gain my Gold Award in the near future, gaining and giving even more benefit from this amazing charity.
