Jack

Because of the behavioural issues that I had, I was just described as that average naughty kid, always in trouble. When I was in my worst stages [of mental health], I was doing DofE, it was an escape for me. I was more passionate than I ever was in life about wanting to achieve something that I really enjoyed. That started me to realise my potential as a good sports coach and that pointed me in the direction of wanting to become a PE teacher in later life. I was most proud going to Holyrood House...I had a lot of barriers put in my way and a lot of people saying I wouldn’t do stuff for myself, so to sit there and get a certificate presented to me by Prince Edward was a big achievement for me that I’ll never forget.
