Bedford Modern School – enrolments

Sarah Sanctuary at Bedford Modern School has found that the DofE has still proved popular this year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The School have taken a “business as usual” approach and encouraged pupils to enrol, resulting in strong numbers. Sarah states, “We have had a very high number wanting to start Bronze (94 out of a cohort of 140 students and we are still accepting enrolment forms).”.

Sarah has encouraged all participants to make a start on their activities straight away, using the Certificate of Achievement as great incentive for them. However, DofE will be running differently this year, she says “Each group is set up on ‘Teams’ so that meetings and training (in the form of assignments) can be carried out by the students. Our focus at this present time is getting them up and running with their Volunteering, Physical and Skills sections and then we will start planning for expeditions in the new year.”
