The Central England Regional Office will be running a Duke of Edinburgh’s Expedition Skills course (DES) in March. Unlike previous courses this course will run for three consecutive days and is fully residential. During the three days delegates will pitch tents, cook on camp stoves, learn the fundamentals of navigation and spend two full days gaining confidence with a map and compass.
This course is ideal for those with little prior outdoor experience as all skills will be taught on the course. A reasonable level of fitness is required to walk between 8 and 12 km on two days.
Full catering will be provided on Friday and on Saturday morning, and delegates will then cater as if they were on a Bronze expedition. There will be an opportunity to purchase food on the Friday evening.
Accommodation will be in shared residential dormitories.
If you would like more information on this course, or to check whether it is the right course for you please contact Dawn Scott – [email protected] to discuss your experience.
