Introduction to eDofE

We are offering FREE eDofE (eDofE is an interactive online system that helps young people manage their DofE programme and Leaders monitor their progress) training opportunities for Leaders/volunteers in the Region.
Please contact your local operations officer for more information.

 

Introduction to the DofE

The Introduction to the DofE training course will provide you with the information needed to be a DofE Leader and run DofE programmes within a centre. It will put the learning from e-induction into context in a practical way. It is suitable for new DofE Leaders as well as existing Leaders who want to improve their DofE knowledge.

Expedition Supervisors Training Course

The Expedition Supervisor training course covers: understanding the role of the Expedition Supervisor, Assessor and other adults involved in the delivery of the Expedition section; Understanding the process of remote supervision; Understanding the importance of emergency procedures; Understanding the duty of care held by the Supervisor.

Expedition Assessors Accreditation Scheme

The Expedition Assessor Accreditation Scheme (EAAS) provides the opportunity for new Expedition Assessors to have their training, skills and learning accredited by the DofE and nationally recognised.The programme has been designed to provide Expedition Assessors with a clear and consistent understanding of their role and responsibilities.

Emergency First Aid At Work

We are able to offer the HSE approved EFAAW course.

It is appropriate for nominated emergency first aiders, or anyone requiring a comprehensive one day first aid course.

This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience and is ideal for lower risk businesses, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations. The course is run over one day and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate’s confidence.

ITC Outdoor First Aid Course

Our 16 hour ITC Outdoor First Aid course is very appropriate for DofE Leaders and validates all outdoor instructor awards, e.g. ML, WGL, BEL, SPA, BCU, RYA, MBLA. This 2 day course awards you with an ITC Certificate in Outdoor First Aid AND an HSE recognised Emergency First Aid at Work certificate. It is the course of choice for many outdoor practitioners.

DofE Expedition Skills (DES)

The three day course is aimed at staff wanting to get involved with the DofE programme, but may not have much experience within the expedition section or have gained a walking qualification.

The course offers a practical and theoretical approach in developing self-confidence as well as up-skilling the staff to enable them to deliver effective DofE Expeditions.

The course will be delivered by qualified staff from the DofE Regional Office who have a vast amount of experience in delivering expedition training.

Mountain Training Lowland Leader Award

The Lowland Leader Award has been designed for people who wish to lead groups on day walks in lowland countryside and woodland in summer conditions (ideally suited to Bronze and Silver).
Before you book onto a Lowland Leader training course, make sure you have recorded a minimum of 10 varied walks in Lowland terrain where the use of a map is required.
The Lowland Leader training course lasts for 2 days, followed by a 2 day assessment.
