Come and join Action Tutoring as a volunteer maths or English tutor and help make a really positive difference to the life of a young person at risk of not passing their SATs or GCSEs!
Action Tutoring is a national education charity dedicated to supporting young people from low-income backgrounds to achieve a meaningful level of academic attainment, with a view to helping them progress on to further education, employment or training.
As a volunteer tutor you will sign up to a ‘programme’ (a school term) worth of tutoring, consisting of weekly one hour sessions, taking place online through a virtual classroom (overall 8-10 hours of volunteering per programme). During sessions you will work through Action Tutoring resources to support primary or secondary pupils to build their subject knowledge, confidence and study skills. Sessions will be at the same time each week and you will support 1-3 pupils.
As the volunteer you choose which session is best for you and you can sign up to as many ‘programmes’ as you want! Action Tutoring will provide all the training and resources needed to tutor, plus cover the cost of an Enhanced DBS check. Please note all volunteers must be 18+ years old.
