We team individuals and small teams together to complete their expedition and, with the support of our friendly instructors, ensure participants have a fun and safe expedition.
2025 Expedition Dates:
Wednesday 28th to Saturday 31st May 2025 – Surrey Hills
Wednesday 27th to Saturday 30th August 2025 – Surrey Hills
Our Bronze programme is designed to suit participants in need of a full expedition section but can also be broken down. Participants can join days 1 and 2 if they only need a training expedition or days 3 and 4 if they only need a qualifying expedition.
Prior to the expedition, participants will receive resources to help with preparation and be put in touch with teammates if they would like to discuss meal plans, kit or travel.
Day 1 – Arrival approx 11 am followed by introductions. Teams work through the DofE training framework with sessions on tents, kit and food, map work, first aid and trangia stoves. Teams camp overnight.
Day 2 – Navigation training day. Teams work with their instructor to learn self-sufficient navigation. By the end of the day teams will be walking under remote supervision. Participants taking part in a training expedition only will depart when they return to the campsite (approx 4pm). Those staying for the qualifying expedition will camp overnight.
Day 3 – Qualifying participants to arrive at 9am to complete route planning and be issued their team kit. The qualifying expedition takes place under remote supervision with teams met at checkpoints along their route. Teams camp overnight.
Day 4 – Teams continue along their route, check pointed until they arrive at their finish point. Teams will receive a debrief with their instructor and hand in their team kit before departing.
Expeditions are run by qualified instructors with experience of the expedition areas. All expeditions include tents, stoves, fuel, maps and compasses, route planning resources, campsite and assessors fees as well as expedition administration and comprehensive pre-expedition information. Participants must arrange their personal kit, transportation and food.
