This Gold Practice expedition takes place on the island of Arran, on the west coast of Scotland. Arran is a beautiful island with beaches, mountains, woodland and an interesting coastline. Participants will be expected to travel to the island on 8 July, meeting up at Ardrossan Harbour at 15:05. You can make your own way there or get a lift from Glasgow in our minibus. Once on the island we’ll spend the rest of the day preparing for the expedition and then on 9 July the expedition begins. We’ll finish the expedition in Brodick and then get a ferry back to Ardrossan mid afternoon, where you can either make your own way home or get a lift to Glasgow in our minibus. The purpose of the expedition is to prepare participants for their Gold qualifying expedition. That means undertaking some training, doing a practice expedition and providing participants an opportunity to work as a team. The campsites are a mixture of wild camps and services campsites. Included in the price is campsite fees and hire of equipment (we provide tents, stoves, gas canisters, map cases and rucksack liners). The cost of the expedition is £200.
