FREE British Racing School Gold Residential – July 2024

Passionate about horses or want to find out more about a career in racing?

  • The British Racing School (BRS) is offering a FREE Residential course, in the week 22nd – 26th July 2024, for marginalised young people.
  • To be eligible for this opportunity you will need to meet the same criteria as the DofE Resilience Fund – this includes those on free school meals, young people with additional needs, young carers and many more. For the full criteria
  • BRS is one of two racing schools in the UK that provide specialist training for the horse racing industry.
  • The course is based on the BRS’s ‘Introduction to Racing’ course and includes: working with racehorses, riding, an introduction to some of the careers available in racing, and how race-days and racecourses work. You will be learning from those who are passionate about their sport and their work.
  • You do not need to be able to ride a horse or have experience with horses to join the course; you do need to weigh less than 11 stone/70kg for horse welfare reasons.
  • There are 10 free places available on this Residential, funded by the Gerald Leigh Trust.
  • More funding may be available if you might also struggle with the costs of travel and equipment.
