The Mill Adventure Base (AAP) is planning an Open Bronze expedition training & expedition programme based in Nottinghamshire. Participants will undertake a 3-day programme learning key expedition skills in line with the Bronze training framework, as well as plan and undertake an appropriate final expedition. This programme is suitable for students already enrolled as a Bronze DofE participant.
For many reasons, young people will have missed out on the opportunity to participate in an expedition and we believe this programme could be the solution that schools, parents and young people are looking for.
Training and expedition programme:
The three-day programme will consist of advance briefing information with kit list and training worksheets, a day of training in navigation, first aid, rucksack packing, route-planning, tents, stoves and cooking with an overnight camp; followed directly by a two-day final expedition. This is booked directly with us, with no school involvement.
Group kit as required, camp fees, stove gas, any necessary minibus transport, qualified supervisors and assessors using both direct and remote supervision, maps & compasses and assessor report.
We would encourage the use of personal expedition and camping equipment where possible, but equipment like camping stoves & tents will be available as required. Professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Food, personal equipment, transport to start & finish points, personal items insurance.
Cost: £125 per participant
