7 days of Adventure!
Our purpose at Bryntysilio is to run adventurous educational programmes that aim to foster a greater sense of independence in all who visit us. It’s through activities such as canoeing, rock climbing or descending the gorge, that students can realise they are capable of more than they thought; students who are able to take ownership of their learning and of the task at hand and, students who are adaptable and creative in response to novel situations. These are all critical attributes for students looking to thrive beyond compulsory education, whether employment or higher education. Particularly in post-COVID, time in natural settings and socialising are critical to our physical and mental well-being. Adventurous activities in a lovely setting offer all this and more.
This week-long residential aims to deliver just that, fun, adventurous times that subtly develop the attributes needed to thrive in the 21st century. Alongside these, we are also running a 16-hour first aid course, so you are confident and equipped to handle a first aid emergency. Students who complete the course will receive a certificate that is valid for three years.
No outdoor experience is required, all technical equipment will be provided, and activities could include canoeing, rock climbing, mountaineering, scrambling, white water kayaking, and bushcraft. Places likely to visit are Clwydian AONB, Snowdonia NP, UNESCO World Heritage Site, River Dee and the ice cream shop in Llangollen!
