Waterway Recovery Group (WRG) working holidays, called ‘Canal Camps’ are a great experience for anyone who loves being outdoors and enjoys meeting new people from different backgrounds and of different ages. Our Camps also offer you a fantastic chance to learn new skills such as bricklaying, stone walling, machine operation and other construction techniques.
In groups of up to 18 volunteers, you will spend the week as part of a close-knit team undertaking essential canal restoration all across the England & Wales. Our volunteer leaders will provide all the training required to complete any task and help give you first-hand experience of what life on a construction site looks like.
It is not all about the work though; social activities are planned throughout the week including bowling, cinema, local sightseeing or even just a trip to the beach! Every morning and evening will be catered for by one of our amazing volunteer cooks and everything you need for lunch will be provided.
Anyone is welcome to volunteer for a Canal Camp; the only restriction is that they must be over 18 years of age. All volunteers participating in the Residential are asked to attend the Camp for the full seven days.
