Join Pod Volunteer to support low income families through community day care centres near Cape Town!
How can I help?
The day care centres we work with are focussed on providing support to the children of local communities just outside Cape Town. For many of these children, their family life is affected by poverty and a lack of parental guidance; the projects seek to provide a structure for young children to develop their educational and social skills from an early age.
You can join the local team in focussing on early childhood development and learn through play techniques to help provide a routine of education for the children at the day care centres. Although each day will differ, your tasks may include assisting with reading to the children, creating games and art activities, supervising playtime and lesson/activity planning!
When can I join?
The 1st or 15th of each month for placements of 2 weeks to 2 and a half months.
Where will I be living?
You will be staying in a modern apartment and sharing a room with 2 – 3 other volunteers. The apartment is based in Strand, a beautiful coastal town roughly 40 minutes from Cape Town.
You can use your long weekends to explore the Western Cape. Being so close to Cape Town means that you can take advantage of the sights and activities it has to offer such as Table Mountain, Robben Island, wine tasting and whale watching.
Volunteer placements start from £895 for 2 weeks. This includes accommodation, airport pick up and transfer to the project and a tour of Cape Town + planning your trip support from the Pod team.
