We are looking for a volunteer who loves going to the disco as much as the people who we support in the Chard. So if you like dancing and socialising and want to share some time with the people we support, doing something you all love then you are the buddy for us.
About the role
We are looking for a buddy who can commit to joining the people we support once a month to share something that is really important to them. No specific experience is required, however experience with adults with disabilities would be desirable. The volunteer should also be a good listener, calm, friendly and chatty. The role will also include supporting with refreshments and snacks in the tuck shop, taking payments and putting the money through the till as well as spending time with the people we support and ensuring they are enjoying themselves
We would ask the volunteer to commit to attending their role on a regular basis – once a month etc. Stability and routine are vital in supporting adults with learning disabilities and autism.
A DBS check and two references will be required for this role.

We are looking for someone who is:
A good listener
Comfortable chatting with people with learning disabilities and autism
Willing to commit to volunteer regularly
Able to handle money
The first stage of the process would be for you to visit the service and meet the staff and the people we support for an informal chat
You must be over 18 to volunteer in this role.
