Make Thursdays fun at The Willow Club!
We are looking for volunteers in the Odcombe, Somerset. that would like to support adults with learning disabilities at their weekly social club, The Willow Club. The session runs 11-2:30pm on Thursdays.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support people with different abilities to actively take part in these sessions. The activities are led by the customers that we support and colleagues within Discovery.
There are an interesting mix of activities; African drumming, arts and crafts, science experiments, table top games, out-door sports, summer trips to the beach, cooking/baking/ making smoothies, summer BBQ and to a local pub for skittles and pub food.
What you will do:
Engaging with the individuals who attend the club.
Supporting individuals with a range of activities.
Attending the club on a weekly basis, to promote continuity and predictability for the customers we support. This is particularly important when you are working with people with disabilities, as unpredictability can cause distress.
We’re looking for someone who is:
A good listener
Comfortable chatting with people with learning disabilities and autism
Willing to commit to volunteer regularly
A DBS check and two character references are required for this role.
You must be over 18 to apply for this volunteering opportunity.
