This six-day Voyage is a residential sailing experience that starts and finishes in the waterfront city of Portsmouth.
Young people will live onboard one of our iconic 72ft Challenger yachts and take an active role in every aspect of life at sea. Sailing through the Solent and along the south coast, with likely onshore stopovers in Cowes or Yarmouth on the Isle of Wight and Poole or Weymouth.
Participants will develop practical sailing skills through extended passages, and taking on responsibilities within a crew.
Under the guidance of experienced staff, you will stand watch, steer the yacht, handle sails, navigate, help with cooking and cleaning, and work as part of a team to safely run the vessel day and night.
Alongside sailing, voyagers will reflect on their aspirations, set personal goals and work towards them throughout the voyage.
The experience focuses on building confidence, resilience, teamwork, communication and leadership skills.
You’ll will share the journey with like-minded young people, forming strong friendships and lifelong memories.
During the voyage, you’ll get the opportunity to work towards the RYA Competent Crew qualification and may also use the experience to complete the residential section of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award. Meals are included in the cost.
