Join us in Figueira da Foz on Portugal’s beautiful west coast to learn surfing and where you can also complete your Duke of Edinburgh`s Gold Residential Award on the renowned surf and beaches of nearby Cabadelo.
Who is this Surfing camp for?:
o Open to DofE Gold candidates of any ability level and age – no experience of surfing necessary
Our fully qualified surf coaches will lead you through from the basics to advanced and you’ll also learn sea and tide awareness and how to use apps and other tools for understanding weather and sea conditions and surf planning. We’ll also teach you basic life saving techniques – all while you enjoy the sun and fun of the beach !
We provide 2 surf lessons daily (each 90 minutes) , a wetsuit and board and your sessions will be monitored by lifeguards and our own staff as well as the surf coaches. If you want to continue surfing after the lesson you can use the board and suit free of charge until we head back to base. On land we provide shared room accommodation in our townhouse, all meals , local transport to surf site and we accompany you to and from the airport in our private bus. Our in-house staff are always on hand to help and guide you.
We assess you at the start of camp and we monitor your progress daily and at the end of your camp we provide a completion report and provide tips for how to continue to improve in surfing which you can submit to the DofE for completion of your Gold Residential award.
You can choose either a 9 day camp with 6 days surfing or a 5 day camp with 3 days surfing. Please indicate below which week(s) you could make so that we can balance out the numbers to best effect.
Airport Transfers
o We provide a free transfer by bus between Lisbon airport and Figueira
o On arrival bus leaves airport at 3pm and on departure we drop off around 1pm
