This is your opportunity to complete a very different type of expedition!! You’ll be paddling a Bell Boat which is a 30ft long catamaran style canoe. Upto 8 people travel on each Bell Boat as you paddle along the Kennet and Avon Canal in Wiltshire for the Practice expedition and the Thames for the Qualifier.
The expedition package involves the following commitments:
Saturday 3rd October – Bell Boat Training Day in Tonbridge, Kent
Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th October – Practice expedition along the Kennet and Avon Canal. Starting in Pewsey you’ll spend the first night camping in a small campsite on the edge of a village called Wilcott. Night two is a wild camp on the side of the canal before finishing on Friday in Thatcham.
Wednesday 21st to Saturday 24th July – Qualifier Expedition along the River Thames. You’ll start in Runnymede next to the M25 and on day one paddle to an island near Cookham where you’ll wild camp with water all around you! On day two you’ll paddle 20 miles to Reading – it takes 10-14 hours so not an easy day!! On day three you paddle to Wallingford in Oxfordshire and then you finish on day four in Abingdon. Astute people will notice you’re going against the flow of the river!!!
This is a really fun expedition which we’ve been running for eight years now. Whether you’re coming as an individual or as a group, you will get to know others due to the team aspect of the mode of travel. The expeditions are always filled with laughter!!
