Participants have the unique opportunity to complete their Residential section on board one of our five community narrowboats. HNA is an independent and voluntary-run community narrowboat project with five boats including one historic boat and one with facilities for the disabled. We are based in Harefield, which is on the southern section of the Grand Union Canal, accessible from Denham, Uxbridge or Rickmansworth if you’re coming by train.
Work on board as a crew member, training towards to be a qualified “Skipper” over a five day period. You will complete the Community Boat Leadership Programme and may qualify for the Boat Handling Certificate, both of which are issued by the National Community Boats Association, and are nationally recognised, while all the time discovering and exploring England’s heritage and the Inland Waterways. Learn new skills, meet people, challenge yourself and of course, have fun!
