Hampshire County Council – Gold Wild Country Training and Practice Expedition – Brecon Beacons – April 2023

Our wild country practice and assessed expeditions give you the opportunity to take part in a classic DofE expedition, completed in the wild and rugged peaks and moors of the Brecon Beacons and the Peak District National Parks. You can book just one or both of the expeditions depending on your need, a handy way to complete one of your sections if you’ve had to miss out on one or other with your school, college or open centre due to injury, illness or other important event.

Itinerary: Training and Practice Expedition – Brecon Beacons

Tuesday 11 April
Drop off location: 1st Caehopkin Pine Scout Hut, Brooklands Rd, Caehopkin, Swansea, SA9 1UF Start time: 11:00

The day will be used to complete the expedition training framework, kit checks etc.

In the evening you are more than welcome to cook an evening meal on a Trangia stove or alternatively eat at one of the local public houses.

Wednesday 12 April
Day walk to practice navigation

Thursday 13 April
Complete day one of practice expedition

Friday 14 April
Complete day 2 of practice expedition, finishing at Penderyn Distillery Visitor Centre, Penderyn, Rhondda Cynon Taf, CF44 0SX.
Finish: approximately 16.00
