Franklin Scholars – Mentor a younger student in your school!

Do you want to be a Franklin Scholar in your school? The Franklin Scholars beacon programme for secondary schools, is a peer mentoring where Franklin Scholars (older students typically in Year 10 or Year 12) support younger students through tutoring, mentoring, and coaching.

You will be trained by us to support a vulnerable younger students (typically Year 7 or Year 9s) through weekly sessions that combine group activities, 1:1 academic support (literacy and numeracy focus areas available) and 1:1 mentoring.

Franklin Scholars participating in the beacon programme are able to complete their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Volunteering section through our programme. While completing your DofE programme with us, you will develop new skills, expand your knowledge, become more confident in working with new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers within the Franklin Scholars cohort in your school. Your experiences and the recognition that you gain could also be useful for UCAS personal statements and National Records of Achievement.

This programme is only available to students in schools that have partnered with the Franklin Scholars programme for the 19/20 school year. A list of partner schools can be found on our website (https://www.franklinscholars.org/partners). Still not sure if you are eligible to take part? Email your Head of Year or a member of your school’s Senior Leadership Team to find out if they work with us!
