Nottingham Trent University – Museums Today – Nottingham Trent University

This course is for those interested in social and cultural history and how it is being curated in museums and galleries today.

In Nottingham and the surrounding areas there are many nationally important museums, as well as castles, country estates and art galleries, all celebrating British history. On our doorstep are The National Justice Museum, Nottingham Contemporary Gallery, Hardwick Hall, Wollaton Hall, Chatsworth House and more.

You will start this course by visiting some of these places and learn first-hand from professionals about how marketing is exploiting the history of the region to attract local, national and international visitors. Lively classroom activities will help you identify key themes as you immerse yourself in British culture and history. You will complete the week by creating a proposal, either individually or in groups, for an exhibition that celebrates the history and heritage of the region.

The course is designed to give you a real experience of university life, make new friends who share similar interests and develop your portfolio so that ultimately, you can make an informed decision about your future.

Please note that you must book the accommodation element along with the course to use this for your DofE Gold Residential. You will need to provide your own meals.
