The Mill Adventure Base Approved Activity Provider is offering an Open Gold canoe expedition training/ practice & qualifying expedition programme based in Nottinghamshire, and the Highlands of Scotland. This programme is suitable for students already enrolled as a Gold DofE participant and fancy a unique and exciting way to finish off their DofE expedition journey. No previous experience is necessary in canoeing.

The Expedition Programme Training weekend held over two days at the Mill Adventure base in Nottinghamshire participants will be taught how to handle canoes safely and cover all aspects of undertaking an expedition by canoe. They will also begin to plan their practice and qualifying expedition.

The Practice Expedition will take place on the River Trent in Nottinghamshire; and will consolidate the skills learnt on the training weekend. Campsites will be by the river each night.

The Qualifying Expedition The qualifying expedition is a remote supervised expedition enabling the participants to meet all the twenty conditions. It will take place in the Scottish Highlands, based around the Loch Shiel area. Camping will be by the lochs each night and will involve wild camping locations that are remote and wild.
