Oyster Worldwide Gold residential – Volunteer Teaching with Monks in Laos

Volunteer in beautiful Luang Prabang region in Laos, teaching young Buddhist monks (aged 10 – 18) to improve their English and helping them to develop their employability for the future. By giving back to the community, you gain a privileged insight into the Buddhist religion. Living in this UNESCO World Heritage town rich in culture, you will see how Buddhist life works and plays.

When? You can volunteer here throughout the year for 2 – 24 weeks.

What’s it all about? You will work in temples, local private schools and hold evening classes teaching English to the monks and some women and children. You will receive training beforehand to help prepare yourself for this responsible but amazing opportunity, then organise and hold 2-3 hour lessons. There are many helpful resources, materials, curriculum information and story books left by past volunteers to aid your teaching.

How much does it cost? 2 weeks costs £1135 Each additional week costs £155 per week.

Accommodation is more basic than what you’re used to in a shared guest house, however there is running hot and cold water showers, western style toilets and the guesthouse is clean and comfortable. You receive 3 meals a day at the guesthouse, comprised of both Western and local cuisine.
