Volunteer with children living in the poorest of communities in South Africa. You can spend time teaching English in schools, supporting the staff in day care centres or coaching sports in after-school clubs.
What’s it all about?
In the schools, volunteers help to support teachers in maths, geography and English - amongst other subjects. The kids love the interactive approach to learning, and the fun that volunteers bring with it.
In the nursery and day care centre you’ll spend your time playing games, reading to children and making a fool of yourself, providing much-needed friendship and attention.
In the after school clubs, you can help to coach football, netball, tennis, hockey, cricket and rugby. The kids absolutely love it, as they do not have access to sports education without this programme.
Accommodation and food
You will be living in a volunteer house with other participants. There is access to a games room, gym and outdoor swimming pool. Three meals are provided each day.
You will have free time at the weekend, although there are lots of activities included in the price that you pay. Examples include a surfing and sand boarding day, a safari trip and a township tour.
You can volunteer from between 5 – 12 weeks at staggered points throughout the year.
How much does it cost?
5 weeks costs £1239 with each extra week costing £147 per week.
Volunteers must be 17+ to participate. The summer is very popular, so you are encouraged to book early to guarantee your space.
