Take part in our women’s empowerment programme in Laos and help to provide education and learning to local women. You will be teaching English to increase disadvantaged women’s access to employment and boost their confidence and independence. All the while you will live in a stunning UNESCO World Heritage site nestled between the Mekong River and the mountains.
What will I do?
Your primary role will be to work with girls and women in workshops on vocational English, health, literacy and practical life skills. The work can vary depending on the needs of the local community at the time. A few hours each week you will be involved in teaching English at a local language centre.
You’ll work Monday – Thursday 2-4 hours each day and may be asked to help run evening classes as well. This sort of timetable provides plenty of opportunity to plan lessons with other volunteers.
Whilst this project does not provide a formal TEFL qualification, you will receive some TEFL training and lesson planning support in Laos.
Food and accommodation
Accommodation is provided throughout your stay in a shared volunteer guesthouse in Luang Prabang.
Three authentic Lao meals are provided each day whilst at the guesthouse. Meals are generally local dishes and dietary needs can be catered for.
You can volunteer on this project throughout the year for 4 – 12 weeks.
How much does it cost?
4 weeks costs £1695
You can stay for two-week blocks. Each extra block of two weeks costs £350.
