Head to Pokhara, a stunning lakeside city in Nepal with views of the Himalayas and the start of many of the world’s most famous treks.
Volunteer on our women’s empowerment programme, and get involved in worthwhile projects chosen specifically to match the needs of the local women you will be working with. Help to tutor women who live on rural farms and have limited access to education and take part in amazing workshops that provide information about health, IT, business and much more.
What will I do?
You’ll work with women from a range of abilities and ages. Your role will be varied and you’ll be provided with a timetable at the start of each week. Typical tasks include:
- Tutoring women in rural areas who have no access to education. You could be working 1-1 or in small groups and focusing on conversational English or basic maths
- Supporting the work of an organisation involved in helping female survivors of human trafficking
- Running workshops on sport, craft, art or health
Whilst this project does not provide a formal TEFL qualification, you will receive some TEFL training and lesson planning support in Nepal.
Food and accommodation
Accommodation is provided throughout your stay. You will live with a host family along with other volunteers and the volunteer coordinator. The shared dorm rooms are single sex and have en-suite bathrooms. The house is comfortable, social and has plenty of communal areas.
You’ll be cooked two delicious meals per day by the host family and lunch, consisting of traditional snacks, is provided at the project site. Meals with the family often include rice, lentils and vegetables.
You can volunteer on this project throughout the year for 2– 12 weeks.
How much does it cost?
2 week from £2195, up to 12 weeks
You can stay for two-week blocks.
