Pod Volunteer – Elephant Care in Thailand – Residential

Join Pod Volunteer to care for retired elephants rescued from logging and tourism industries in a tropical wildlife sanctuary

How can I help?

You will join a dedicated local team in providing care for over 20 rescued elephants who reside at the sanctuary. Although each day varies, your volunteer role generally includes preparing and distributing food, creating enrichments, harvesting pineapple and banana trees and observing the behaviour of the elephants.

You may also be involved in the construction or maintenance of enclosures, cleaning or developing the centre grounds / farmland, assisting with visitor tours and education.

There are actually two volunteer roles available at the same sanctuary; Elephant Care and Wildlife Rescue. You are welcome to specialise in one role, or apply for both and spend time with the wildlife as well as the elephants on site.

When can I join?

Any Sunday throughout the year for 1 to 12 weeks

Where will I be living?

You will be living on-site at the centre, based in volunteer accommodation which is located a short walk from where you will be working. Accommodation is basic and being located on-site in an animal rescue centre within a tropical environment, it’s a challenging environment for maintenance and cleanliness.

In your free time, you can explore the nearby national parks, enjoy a day at the spa in the local village or visit the bigger towns of Hua Hin or Cha Am where you can enjoy the night markets, restaurants and bars. Alternatively, you can just relax with other volunteers in the open communal area where there is a bar, snacks and smoothies.

Placement fee

Volunteer placements start from £695 for 1 week. This includes accommodation and all main meals + planning your trip support from the Pod team.
