Join Pod Volunteer on a two week trip for 16-17 year olds to work with rescued elephants, monkeys, bears and other animals in tropical Thailand. This group trip will be accompanied by a Pod Volunteer Team Leader.
How can I help?
You will volunteer for one week on the Elephant Care role and one week on the Wildlife Rescue role, this will give you an amazing opportunity to be involved with all aspects of life at the centre.
The exact nature of the work you will be doing varies and everyday jobs include:
Preparing and distributing food and water for the animals
Cleaning the enclosures and groups
Creating enrichments for the animals
Harvest of pineapples / banana trees (on Elephant Care role)
Helping to construct new cages and enclosures
As part of the placement the following excursions are included:
A visit to a nearby national park to hopefully spot elephants in the wild
A trip to see a bat cave
Exploring the local night markets
Visit to a local Buddhist temple
A relaxing visit to a local spa
When can I join?
One start date each year in July/August.
Where will I be living?
Volunteers live in simple shared rooms at the animal rescue centre. It is a remote location and provides a peaceful and beautiful environment. There are nice areas for everyone to sit and relax in the evening, volunteers tend to socialise together.
Placement fee
Volunteer placement is £1495 for 2 weeks. This includes accommodation, all main meals, airport pick up and transfer to the project, local trips, a dedicated group leader + planning your trip support from the Pod team.
