Raleigh International – Re:Green: A conservation, environmental campaigning and youth leadership programme

Introducing Re:Green – A brand new programme by Raleigh International designed to increase the skills, knowledge, and capacity of young people to directly address the climate emergency. Re: Green will be taking place in remote areas of Western Scotland and will challenge young people to step out of their comfort zone whilst increasing their environmental knowledge and awareness in some of the most beautiful and secluded areas of the UK.

On Re:Green, volunteers will:

• Take direct action to protect vulnerable environments by working on conservation projects based in remote areas of the Western Highlands of Scotland. Raleigh International is part of the Alliance for Scotland’s Rainforest, fighting to save 30,000 hectares of rainforest and ancient woodland from environmental devastation. Activities could include removal of invasive species, vegetation management and wildlife and habitat monitoring.

• Be equipped with the skills and knowledge to address the climate emergency through environmental campaigning workshops. Volunteers will be trained in social and environmental activism and how to influence decision-makers to take action to drive the green recovery.

• Embark on an 11-day Adventure Leadership trek in remote and beautiful locations in the Scottish wilderness, designed to challenge young people and build their leadership, resilience, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

• Engage in a 6-month post-placement activity through our global campaign ‘Action not Excuses’ – where volunteers will be supported through virtual training sessions, and access to our global digital platform. There will be five ‘Action Challenge’ pathways to choose from: Create Green Jobs, Reverse Deforestation, Fight for Zero Waste

Raleigh International is committed to ensuring our programmes are accessible to all young people from a range of backgrounds. If your household income is below £30,000 – you might be eligible for a fully funded place through the Re:Green Access fund.
