Reach Outdoors is excited to offer a programme of training and expeditions for young people who may require the support of an additional person in 2024. It could be that you need some support with care, decision making or emotional support. Having that support worker with you could be the key to enable you to complete your expedition section. Working closely with the DofE award, we have had initial approval of a programme that allows young people to work together in a small group to plan, train for, and undertake a hiking expedition in South Devon.
The first element will be a days training with the team, leading straight into a practice expedition. Returning a week later to complete the 4 day qualifying venture. The plan will be to camp and cook on stoves, carrying what we can and walking as far as we can. However, if there are some exceptions to be made we can flexible to suit the individual. All the time, young people can have a support worker with them to help them overcome any barriers that may have got in the way without support.
