The scheme and associated syllabus is used extensively within the South West by local authorities, voluntary organisations, the DofE, schools, colleges and establishments of further and higher education, as a means of ensuring that staff and volunteers supervising and leading groups are competent.
Registration of £20.00 with the scheme is required – details given on enquiry. Upon registration you are issued a Registration number, and emailed a log book and front cover to print, with MLTE pdf “Remote Supervision Guidance Notes”. You will need a acquire the text book: “Hillwalking” by Steve Long.
The introductory level is the Coastal & Countryside Leader, which is a locally accredited qualification for DofE Leaders to train, supervise or assess Expeditions in the South West in normal, rural and open country including Forest of Dean.
In Gloucestershire, our County Health & Safety dept set this as the minimum qualification with the Coastal & Countryside Camping Endorsement, so the course includes assessment for both qualifications.
The course starts at 18:00 on Friday 6 March through to 17:00 on Saturday 7 March 2020.
