Our experienced British Canoeing coaches will be on hand to help you to achieve your greatest potential, step out of your comfort zone and learn new skills while you meet new friends en route to completing your Gold award.
There’s a large selection of paddlesports craft and equipment for you to use including playboats, sea kayaks, SUPs, touring canoes and slalom kayaks. Once you’ve built up your confidence paddling on our sheltered lake, there will be a few journeys on the River Thames. At the end of the week, you should have gained both the new British Canoeing Paddle Start award and the new British Canoeing Paddle Discover Award. If you come to the course with a range of good confident paddling skills already, you will have the opportunity to be assessed for the new British Canoeing Paddle Explore award.
You will be living and working with others, building new relationships and working as part of a team. It is for this reason that the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award recommend that ‘only a small minority of those taking part should be known to the participant’. (ie participants should only know one other person on the same course).
